What’s the difference between transgender and transvestite??

Can someone explain this pls! I don’t get it!!!!

  1. It’s understandable why you got confused here, especially if you’re not either of it. Transvestite is actually a kind of transgender. Every transvestite is transgender, but not all transgender people are transvestites. Transgender people don’t feel that they belong to the sex they were born with. Transgender people behave, feel and express themselves different from the way their birth sex is expected to behave. Transgender are: transvestites (or crossdressers), drag queens and kings, androgynes, genderqueers, gender fluids etc. On the other hand, transvestites are only and simply crossdressers. Those are people who are comfortable with their given sex but enjoy dressing as the opposite sex.

  3. Transgender is an umbrella term for all people who behave uncommon for their physical gender. So, it’s a wide term that refers to all people who feel different from what they look like. Transvestite (it’s a bit derogative, crossdresser is preferred) is a person who likes to dress like the opposite sex.
